1st place: RED
2nd place: BLUE
3rd place: YELLOW
4th place: GREEN

Puppy, Novice, Novice Dog Novice Handler Working Tests for A.V. Retrievers – Sunday 7th July 2024 – Haighton
“Last test of the season for Pennine and we ended with a fabulous day. The weather wasn’t too bad and it only rained for a short time. At lunch time we provided everyone with food (and cake). Thanks to everyone who brought something, it was really appreciated. Laila Curtis-Noonan and Tracy Langstreth even made wonderfully decorated PTA cakes which were amazing!
We have so many thank you’s to give for today so here goes…..
Firstly thanks so much to Geoff Saint for letting us use his wonderful training ground at Haighton near Preston.
Thanks to judges Keith Broomfield, Michael Nelson, Mark Palmer and Peter Thompson who all did a great job today and gave competitors feedback (if required) in the puppy and ND/NH.
Very grateful to our fabulous sponsors Adrian and Karen Blackledge of “AK Gundog Accessories” for providing the winners with a dummy pack each.
Thank you to Christine (our Treasurer) and Peter Thompson for all their hardwork. They really do go above and beyond for the club, and thanks to Julie Hunter and Kim Howlett for their help with the raffle and booking people in – and everything else they do. Also thanks to committee members Mick Kay, Andy Hall and Paul Brown for all their help.
Thanks to Gary Collier for being Chief Steward for the day who ensured that things ran as smoothly as possible.
Last but certainly not least, as we couldn’t hold these events without them – we would like to say a very big thank you to all the helpers – Paul Brown, Nicky Waddington, Ian Waddington, Jill Cummings, Bob Flewitt, Louise Collier, Nigel McIlroy and John Lupton (hope I haven’t forgot anyone)

“What a brilliant day it was today at the 4 Way Match. We came last but it was just ‘one of those things’ and didn’t detract from us all have a cracking day out.
I would like to thank our hosts Lancs & Mersey for their hospitality (the buffet was fab) – Lee David Marson, Laura Cooke, Elaine Curran, Joanne Fenna and Lisa Marson for organising – you did a fabulous job. Also thanks to all the dummy throwers and judges plus Nick Aubrey for the use of the ground. Thanks also to our Pennine Judge – Michael Nelson.
Thanks to our wonderful Pennine team for running their dogs for us – Neil Appleton, Gary Collier, Mick Kay, Steve Townsend, Caroline Wainwright and Vicky Waterfield.

Novice, Open Working Tests for A.V. Retrievers – Saturday 18th May 2024 – Southport
“Pennine held its 3rd test day of the season yesterday at Meols Hall, Southport. The tests were Novice and Open, and we were there by kind permission of Nick Aubrey. Thank you Nick.
Huge thanks go to our magnificent team of helpers who came out in force to help us. In these times where help is so difficult to come by, we really appreciate the support we get at Pennine, and can’t thank you all enough. Paul Murphy, Kim Howlett, Neil & Lee-Anne Whittaker, Nigel McIlroy, Gill Carter, Bob Flewitt, Nicky Waddington, Martin Quinn, Peter Thompson, Michael Nelson, Louise Collier, Mick Kay, Andy Hall and Cath Burns. Very well done as it can’t have been easy stood out in that heat. We really couldn’t do it without you.

As always much thanks to Christine Thompson for looking after base camp and providing food for the judges and helpers and to Peter for storing and bringing all the equipment.
Thanks also to Gary Collier and Mark Palmer for giving an extra day out of their busy lives (and businesses) to go down to the ground the day before to set the tests and make sure everything was safe to run dogs over.
Chief Steward for the day was Gary Collier who kept the day running as smoothly as possible. Thanks Gary, you did a fab job and even learned to drive an automatic car as an added bonus.

Puppy, Novice, Open Working Tests for A.V. Retrievers – Sunday 7th April 2024 – Betley

“Another very successful day for Pennine Training Area at our 2nd test of the season, despite some very blustery weather. Fortunately it stayed dry for most of the day.

Our test was held at Red Hall Farm in Betley by very kind permission of Mandy Berrisford. This is a new test & training ground for us, and is an absolutely superb venue, consisting of ponds, woodlands, rough ground and meadows.
The tests were set by our training co-ordinator and Chief Steward for the day, Gary Collier. Thanks Gary, the tests were very challenging but doable
We are so grateful to our fabulous team of helpers who always come out in force to throw dummies, place blinds and steward for us. So a very big thank you to Mark Palmer, Peter Thompson, Mick Kay, Martyn Platt, Paul Murphy, Paul Brown, Andy Hall, David Boardman, Nigel McIlroy, Louise Collier, Emma Tarleton, Scott Marland and Nicky Waddington.
A very big thank you to Nicola Reynolds, Andy Latham, Phil Goulden and Chris Kettle who judged 90 dogs and did a fabulous job.

“A very successful first test of 2024 today for The Pennine Training Area, and fortunately we had good weather too with only a few minutes of rain.
Our tests were held at Aston Hall near Runcorn by kind permission of Andrew Talbot and Graham McPherson. We were kindly sponsored by Adrian & Karen of “AK Gundog Accessories Ltd” who provided the winners with dummies.
I would like to say that I’m very proud of our club members who, along with committee members, came out in force to help us – either throwing dummies, placing blinds or stewarding, and we can’t thank you enough. You really do make this club such a success. So thank you to Paul Murphy, Martyn Platt, Andy Hall, Kim Howlett, Neil Whittaker, Lee-Ann Whittaker, Bob Flewitt, Julie Flewitt, Scott Marland, Henry Vincent Price, Wayne Skett, Louise Collier, Laila Curtis-Noonan, Bronwyn Roberts, Paul Brown, Nigel McIlroy and Nicky Waddington.
Thanks to Michael Nelson who was Chief Steward and managed to click up thousands of steps today making sure that things were running smoothly.
