Training Information<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Apart from the annual membership fee (see Membership<\/a> page) there’s also a training fee of \u00a310.00 per dog at training events for each training class attended. This helps to fund provision and replacement of equipment such as dummies, and blank ammunition for dummy launchers and starting pistols.
\n<\/strong>Non members are very welcome and will be charged \u00a315.00 per dog per class.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Training\u00a0days (and evenings)\u00a0are held regularly throughout the year\u00a0at\u00a0venues\u00a0in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Cheshire. Please click on the Events Calendar to\u00a0see what’s on and when (for help about how to use it – see the Events<\/a> page). Training\u00a0classes cater for everyone (from\u00a0beginners to\u00a0experienced handlers)\u00a0and\u00a0are\u00a0separated into three\u00a0– Puppy, Novice,\u00a0and Open.\u00a0Each of these are also\u00a0designated Working Test and Field Trial categories\u00a0and are\u00a0described in more detail in the Information section.<\/p>\n

The open class will consist of working your trained dog on set up situations coaching will be given if required but dogs should be of a decent standard.<\/span><\/div>\n

Venues offer a variety of ground and cover – affording handlers the\u00a0opportunity to\u00a0train their gundogs in fields and root crops, in water, through woods and undergrowth, and over fences and walls. All you’ll need to take part is a dog, a dog whistle, a lead, and probably some waterproofs and waterproof boots. Indeed you don’t even have to have a dog – if you’re interested in gundog training, and eventually owning your own gundog – you’re welcome to contact us for advice, or\u00a0just come along to watch a training session (please email the club Secretary<\/a> for directions, or contact the club\u00a0Training Co-ordinator<\/a> for more details). \"Walked<\/a><\/p>\n

Light refreshments are usually available for members at most events. Small contributions of sandwiches, cakes or biscuits brought to share on the day\u00a0are always\u00a0greatly appreciated. If you’d like\u00a0to take\u00a0part\u00a0in the activities for the whole day,\u00a0then bring a packed lunch (and a flask just in case). As the day is split you’ll only need to\u00a0turn up\u00a0for your particular\u00a0class – although many members, once they’ve finished their ‘session’ (or before theirs is due to start)\u00a0also assist\u00a0the trainers\u00a0– by throwing, placing, and collecting\u00a0dummies,\u00a0or firing\u00a0a starting pistol\u00a0(which replicates gunfire) when dummies\u00a0are thrown.<\/p>\n

If you’re new to gundog training we would suggest you first come to observe, chat with members, and then consider your options – gundog training is quite dissimilar to pet obedience training.\u00a0Also please read the information page ‘About Training<\/a>‘.<\/p>\n
