Puppy, Novice and Open Working Tests – 16th May 2026 held at Red Hall Farm<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
“We travelled to Staffordshire yesterday to hold our 3rd working test of the season. The venue was the fabulous Red Hall Farm at Betley, by very kind permission of Mandy Berrisford<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The weather was a mixture of freezing cold and sunshine, but in the main the rain held off until after we\u2019d finished.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The dogs were tested on water, blinds, marks and two dog walked ups over woodland, ponds, ploughed fields and meadow, and we saw some fabulous dog work.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n

Four Way Match Sunday 3rd May 2026 – Lazonby – Pennine Hosting<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
“What a fabulous day we had at the annual 4 way match up in Lazonby, Cumbria. I\u2019m not sure how long it\u2019s been running, but for people that don\u2019t know, it\u2019s a test between 4 clubs – Burns & Becks, Lancs & Merseyside, Pennine Training Area and Pilling Moss. There are 6 dogs per team – 2 puppies, 2 novice and 2 open and they all compete in 4 tests in their categories, followed by a team test, if time allows. Time did allow, and each team chose 1 puppy, 1 novice and 1 open. The pups had a mark, the novice a longer mark and the open, a long blind.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The weather started off quite wet but by the time we started it was fine, and remained fine for the duration no waterproofs required.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The day went like clockwork and I would personally like to thank our committee members who worked very hard to ensure that it did – Mark Palmer<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Gary Collier<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Mick Kay<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Andy Hall<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Kim Howlett<\/span><\/span><\/span> , Lee-Ann & Neil Whittaker<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Julie Hunter, Tracy Langstreth<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Franny Guatella<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Laura Cooke<\/span><\/span><\/span> and Robbie Gilmour – sit down Christine Thompson but I bought them a drink in the pub afterwards and spent the budget.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“After quite a cold start this morning, the sun came out and it ended up being a lovely warm day at our second test of the season at Meols Hall in Churchtown, Southport.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The tests were very challenging but doable, in woodland, meadow, Reed\u2019s and ditches.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
We were there by very kind permission of Mr Nick Aubrey.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Annual Intercounties Test, hosted by the Midland Gundog Society. Saturday 21st March 2026 – Packington Estate<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
“Today a team from Pennine, running for our parent club the NGRA, travelled down to the beautiful Packington Estate in Meriden near Coventry, to compete in the annual Intercounties Test, hosted by the Midland Gundog Society.<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Our team was Scott Marland<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Roz Mcilroy<\/span><\/span><\/span> and Nicky Waddington<\/span><\/span><\/span> running Brooke, Gunny and Skye. Karen Parkinson, Andy Hall<\/span><\/span><\/span> and Kim Howlett<\/span><\/span><\/span> were also in attendance to cheer the team on. There were 5 challenging tests – a variety of blinds and marks over pond, river, meadow, fallen trees (which they had to jump over) and a walked up test.<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Scott, Roz and Nicky picked everything and were awarded a very creditable 2nd place (out of 15 teams) behind SEGS, who were the winners. Well done guys, you did great and were fabulous to watch.<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
