Please click on any &#8216;Scores&#8217; links below to open the chosen file in a new window.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll need Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer to allow you to read PDF files.<\/p>\n<p>Click on the link below to download and install.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/get.adobe.com\/uk\/reader\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-541 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.penninetrainingarea.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Get_Adobe_Acrobat_Reader_DC_web_button_158x39_fw.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"158\" height=\"39\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The results and rosettes awarded are colour coordinated as follows:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">1st place: RED<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">2nd place: BLUE<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">3rd place: YELLOW<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">4th place: GREEN<\/span><br \/>\nCertificates of Merit can also be awarded.<\/p>\n<p>PTA working test results will always be published as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>2019 Working Test Results and Match scores \u2013 Reverse chronological order<\/strong><\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Match PTA competing in The Inter Counties Team Invitation Gundog Working Test &#8211; August 31st to September 1st 2019 &#8211; Chatsworth<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Inter Counties Team Invitation Gundog Working Test took place within the splendid surroundings of Chatsworth House with thirteen teams once again competing for The Chatsworth Country Fair Challenge Trophy.<\/p>\n<p>The PTA team of Chris Pilkington, Scott Marland, and Captain Gary Collier improved on last year\u2019s third place with an extremely well deserved victory.<\/p>\n<p>The large gallery were quick to applaud and cheer all the teams who put on an excellent exhibition of skilled gundog handling. As usual the event was extremely well organised and lead by Philip Smithies with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers. Judges were Sue Lowe and Will Hales.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.penninetrainingarea.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Chatsworth-2019.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3718\" title=\"PTA 2019 team Scott, Gary (Captain), and Chris receiving their 1st place awards\" src=\"http:\/\/www.penninetrainingarea.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Chatsworth-2019-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"345\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.penninetrainingarea.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Chatsworth-2019-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.penninetrainingarea.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Chatsworth-2019-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.penninetrainingarea.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Chatsworth-2019.jpg 792w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;Day 1 &#8211; Chatsworth Country Fair Inter Team Gundog Working Test for the Chatsworth Country Fair Challenge Trophy and the Staindrop Challenge Trophy for the best individual.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Thirteen teams of 3 representing gundog clubs and societies from all parts of the country started day 1 of this 2 day test feeling excited and with a little trepidation at what lay in store for them.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Some competitors had run in the individual competition the previous day. This did not give them an advantage as Michael O&#8217;Hanlon used a different piece of ground.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The 3 team members all competed at the same time in a 3 dog walk up.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Each member had a mark in front and a blind behind. Each completed all the marks then the blinds.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The natural bunkers soon tested the handler and dog. Unfortunately some dogs did not score on the blind retrieves.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Moving forward again there was a gunshot followed by a dummy thrown to the far bank of the river. This was both a distraction and a memory retrieve, which had to be picked by a nominated team member after the 3 marked retrieves on the water had been picked.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">As with the blinds the water proved to be a challenge for some dogs.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">At the end of day 1 3 handlers out of 39 returned a perfect score to be joint best individual.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">In the order (highest scores) at the end of day 1:<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">193 &#8211; PTA<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">183- SEG&#8217;s<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">179 &#8211; 3 Ridings<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">175- 3T&#8217;s<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">173 &#8211; URC (Midland)<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">171 &#8211; Yorkshire<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">166 &#8211; Kent, Surrey and Sussex<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">166 &#8211; Lincolnshire<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">164 &#8211; Dukeries<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">158 &#8211; Dove Valley<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">156 &#8211; Leicestershire<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">155 &#8211; NDLRC<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">155 &#8211; East Midlands<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">At the end of the day the joint best individuals who had clear scores (60) were:<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Andrew Slingsby &#8211; Dukeries<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Penny Heath &#8211; SEG&#8217;s<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Christopher Pilkington &#8211; PTA<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Well done to all competitors.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">We look forward to day 2. All teams will be wanting to improve their postion in the points table.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Thanks to Wuffitmix for sponsoring these tests.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">At lunch time the gallery (which was a full house) greatly enjoyed a gundog demonstration by the Junior Handlers from Dove Valley Working Retriever Club.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Summer, Billie-Jo, Brook, Oliver and Harry demonstrated their handling skills with 3 labradors and 2 springer spaniels.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">We started with a steadiness exercise before advancing to the spaniels quartering in front of the line, then water retrieves in the river and to finish the demonstration Summer and Billie- Jo had their dogs retrieving across the river.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The junior handlers were supported by Don and Pat Robertson and all of them received a goody back of assorted dog training equipment generously provided by Gundog Gear.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The 2nd day of the inter club test commenced with all 39 competitors having 2 retrieves, a blind and a mark.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Today all of the action took place in front of the grandstand which was full to capacity. This placed extra pressure on the competitors, some had not competed in an arena with so many members of the public watching their every move and listening to their commands.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The format was the same as the previous day, all 3 team members in line.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The first dog was sent across the river for a marked retrieve, when it had picked and was half way back across the river another dog was sent across the river for the blind. This sequence was maintained until the 3 team members had either succesfully completed their retrieve or attempted a retrieve but were called up by the judges.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Following lunch the judges took the top 6 teams back into the arena in front of the grandstand. Each team knew the scores they had gained over the 2 days and knew what they had to do if they wish to improve their position on the leader board.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">In this final run off each competitor would have 1 retrieve. The retrieves being 1 blind with no gun shot and 2 marks with gun shot, 1 thrown to the right and 1 to the left.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The judges asked each team member which retrieve they were going to collect. Picking the wrong dummy would be a 0.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The blind was collected first, when the dog had picked and was half way back across the river the next dog was sent for the mark. Also thanks very much to dummy throwers,\u00a0Mark Palmer,\u00a0Scott Hoyle,\u00a0John Lupton\u00a0and Neil Whittaker. Our dog steward was\u00a0Jill Cummings who did a brilliant job.
